Nestled on the Bohr River just miles from Germany in the ancient area of Selesia, the town of Boleslawiec is the home of the Ceramika Artystyczna factory which houses the artists and craftsmen that create beautiful Polish Pottery stoneware. For centuries Boleslawiec has produced the finest collectible stoneware in the world.
Prior to World War II, the area of Selesia was controlled by Germany for many years and the art form was for a time was know as Bunzlau. During World War II, 60% of Bolesawiec was bombed to rubble and many of the factories were either bombed out or left in disrepair. After the war the area was ceded back to Poland from Germany and the factories began the arduous task of rebuilding. Since the end of the cold war, Boleslawiec and the premier factory in the area, Ceramika Artystyczna, have revived the honors of ancient times producing the most beautiful and functional stoneware in the world for the Polish Pottery Shoppe and you!!
The white clay of Boleslawiec, when molded and fired at temperatures in excess of 1350 degrees, creates durable stoneware that is non-toxic, impervious to abrasions and does not chip or crack easily. The beautiful colors and designs of Ceramika Artystyczna make the perfect gift and when the pieces are mixed and matched they make a stunning table setting in any home.
